Tracken is a companion app for Magic: The Gathering players — a life tracker, card scanner, and collection tool. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. We built Tracken to collect as little as possible, and it is provided free (supported by ads).
Device and play identifiers. To run the real-time multiplayer life tracker, your device generates a random identifier, and when you join a game it obtains a temporary guest identifier from our authentication provider. These let your device reconnect to a game in progress and keep seats and life totals attached to the correct player. They are random values — not your name, email, or phone number — and we do not use them to identify you as a person.
Camera. When you scan a card or a game QR code, the app uses your camera. Card recognition happens on your device; the camera image itself is not sent to or stored by Tracken. Only the resulting card identity (looked up from a public card database) is used.
Multiplayer game data. When you play a shared game, the current game state — life totals, seat positions, counters, and the cards you choose as commanders (references to public card data, not personal information) — is sent to our servers so the other players at your table stay in sync. This data is temporary and is automatically deleted a few hours after the game ends.
Your collection, wishlist, and decks. Card lists you build are stored locally on your device. If you create an optional account (see “Optional Accounts” below), they are also stored on our servers so they survive a lost phone and stay in sync across your devices.
Tracken works fully without an account. If you choose to create one, you sign in with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google — either way, we never see or store a password. When you create an account we receive and store:
Account data is used only to provide backup and sync. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shown to other users. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) — this permanently removes your account and all synced data from our servers; for Apple sign-ins it also revokes the app's Sign in with Apple authorization (Google sign-ins leave nothing at Google to revoke — we never hold Google tokens). You can also export everything we hold for you as a file (Settings → Account → Export my data).
Advertising. Tracken shows ads to support the app through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a device advertising identifier and related technical information (such as IP address and general device data) to serve and measure ads. You can limit this at any time (see “Your Choices” below). Google’s handling of this data is described in Google’s advertising privacy information.
We do not sell your personal information.
Tracken relies on a few outside services:
We provide information to Amazon Web Services and Google only as needed to run the app, and we do not sell your personal information.
Without an account, we do not collect your name or email address at all. With or without one, we never collect your phone number, precise location, or contacts, and we never see a password (Sign in with Apple handles sign-in). There is no free-text chat or public profile in the app.
Multiplayer game data is automatically deleted a few hours after a game ends. Card lists you create stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. The random device and guest identifiers persist so multiplayer keeps working; uninstalling the app removes on-device data.
If the app encounters an error, limited diagnostic information (such as device type and error details) may be collected by our service providers to help us diagnose and fix problems.
Tracken is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Connections between the app and our servers are encrypted in transit. We limit what we collect and delete game data automatically. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the limited information Tracken handles.
We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example, when optional accounts are added). We will update the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be reflected in the app or its store listing.
